Instructions
Instructions
-
Mix the seasoning. Combine chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, and salt in a small bowl.
-
Brown the beef. Cook ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up as it cooks—about 6-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
-
Season. Add spice mixture and water to the beef. Stir well and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the water evaporates and meat is well coated.
-
Build the bowls. Divide lettuce among 4 bowls. Top each with seasoned beef, avocado, sour cream, cheese, and any other toppings.
Topping Ideas
- Pico de gallo
- Guacamole
- Hot sauce
- Lime wedges
- Sliced olives
- Diced tomatoes
- Sliced radishes
Variations
- Carnivore: Skip the lettuce, double the meat, add cheese and sour cream only
- Dairy-free: Use coconut cream and skip the cheese
- Chicken: Use ground chicken or shredded rotisserie chicken
- Meal prep: Cook beef ahead, store separately, assemble when ready
Notes
- Make your own taco seasoning to control quality and avoid additives
- Cauliflower rice makes a great base instead of lettuce
- Ground pork or turkey work equally well
